@crystal_mcnaughton we used a see kai run shoe that was Velcro. The actual shoe I think should still be in the items I’ve sold section on my page. They’re the red see kai run shoes. They are made wide but I think really any shoe that’s made wider works okay

These were bought brand new for a little over $400, they are not specifically fitted to my son and are a jump start AFO that will fit any child size 5 foot and under. My sons Physical Therapist suggested we buy these for him. He wore them when his feet were a size 3 however they have you size up typically to have some wiggle room. he only worn them 2 months and they said he didn't need them anymore. They are crazy expensive to buy brand new and I wish I would have looked for used ones first. I'm hoping maybe these will help someone out with the cost if their child is in need of an AFO.
