Great advice! My oldest girl was born bald and stayed that way until she finally started growing some twigs here and there around 3 years old. My second girl, middle child, our ultrasound tech did not exaggerate when she told us the baby had a ton of hair, of course I really wasn’t expecting much or any at all, by past experience, to my astonishment she was born with a head full of hair and then some, and I honestly don’t believe she ever lost a single strand. She is 4 now, and her hair comes down past her bottom. Did not have a clue how to handle her hair then, and to this day, it’s a daily struggle, but too beautiful to cut off. Lol. Our third child, and surprise baby was a boy, again told a head full of hair, when he was born, there wasn’t a strand to be seen. 😆 Loved this sage advice written here. Everyone with a baby girl needs to know these things!!!❤️

Description

I remember clearly that ultrasound appointment. I was so excited to have a baby girl and imagined she would look just like me as a baby. When the ultrasound tech said “Oh wow, your daughter has a TON of hair!” the picture in my head was dramatically altered. What would I do with all of that hair?

I immediately went to work buying hair accessories so that I would be completely prepared for her arrival. Much to our surprise, our ultrasound tech had greatly exaggerated our hair situation . In fact we call it Beautifully Bald. By much trial and error, I figured out some things about managing baby girl hair. I've divided these hair challenges into 3 stages -Beautifully Bald, Mini Mohawk and Boomerang Bangs.

Beautifully Bald – little to no hair. Some babies don't grow hair the first year (like me) and my daughter was born with very little hair. For fear I would take out the next stranger who told me “He's so cute!” I knew we needed to be using those headbands now. What I have discovered is that the beautifully bald babies look best in a thin elastic headband with a bow or flower. As the baby's head grows they can get away with a larger bow.

Mini Mohawk – longer hairs that will stick straight up with the wrong headband. This stage looks best with wider stretchy headbands that will hold the hair down flat and will prevent the baby Mohawk. This is the stage my daughter is in now. Any of the gorgeous thin headbands in my collection just drive me crazy. In the south they have a saying, “The bigger the bow the better the mom.” Go as big as you like in this stage just keep the band big as well.

Boomerang Bangs – longer hair in the front that keeps falling in the eyes too short to stay behind the ears. This is the stage clips are necessary. My good friend's daughter is in this stage. When she came over to visit she couldn't keep her hair out of her eyes. The clips can hold the hair back and bring some order to the wild growth.

At every stage your baby can look beautiful. Hopefully this information will save you time in finding the best hair solution for your daughter.
